Installing Steel Garden Edging

Story: Installing Steel Garden Edging
Episode: 12
Presenter: Dan Foreman
Air Date: 7 October 2026

Dan teams up with Darren from Green Earth to learn about ShapeScaper steel garden edging and how to install it.

  • Steel garden edging is a durable landscaping solution used to create clean boundaries, define garden beds and pathways, and form different levels or terraces across sloping areas.
  • Dan highlights the importance of wearing the correct PPE when handling steel. He also explains how to prepare and store the edging once it arrives, including laying it out face up and separating lengths to help prevent black rust on Redcor steel or white rust on galvanised edging.
  • To install steel garden edging start with pre-bending and positioning the edging to suit the garden design. Then attach joiners to each length, levelling the edging and positioning the stakes before securing everything firmly in place.
  • Once the edging is installed and levelled, the area is backfilled and any final adjustments are made.
  • The result is a practical solution to a challenging sloping space, transformed into an attractive terraced garden bed.
